“Zeitgeist: Addendum” Released

The viral movie “Zeitgeist” was released in 2007, and brought a few obscure theories into mainstream debate, thanks to the internet – and mostly Google video. Now the second part to the movie has been released, in the form of another 2 hour movie.

Zeitgeist: Addendum

The original Zeitgeist movie covered 3 main topics: Religion (mostly Christianity), War on Terror (mostly 9/11) and the Federal Reserve. Most of that information was patched together from other works, but served as a great introduction to various topics, hence the name Zeitgeist.

The newly released Zeitgeist: Addendum is split into 2 main topics: the monetary system, and “The Venus Project.” The monetary system covers inflation, fractional reserve banking, interest, the difference between greenbacks, resource-based economies, and a few other areas – all of which lead to the conclusion that all money is inherently founded on debt, therefore any system which uses money will inevitably lead to people in debt, and eventually all fractional-reserve baking systems will bankrupt those who take out any debt (use money).

The second part of the movie attempts to explain an alternative society, which sounds like a blend between global socialism, except nobody has to work because technology has replaced all jobs. I’m not sure I have much confidence in relying on technology to the point where people forget / become obsolete in their counter-part functions to said technology.

Anyways, withholding further opinions on the movie, I still recommend anyone that enjoyed the first one (or didn’t) to watch the addendum, for a more complete view of the filmmakers’ intentions.
